Day 3 - The Mind Body Network - The mind and body are not separate

The mind and body are not separate; they function as a single, integrated feedback loop governed by your beliefs and environment.

1. Hard-Wired Connection: New research shows that brain areas controlling movement are literally "plugged into" networks involved in thinking, planning, and the control of involuntary functions like blood pressure and heart rate.

2. Communicator Molecules: The brain uses "runners" called neurotransmitters to carry your thoughts to every cell,. These chemicals ensure that every mental impulse has a physical counterpart.

3. The Bodymind: Because receptors for these "mental" chemicals are found on cells throughout your body (like the immune system), your tissues are effectively "thinking" and "feeling" alongside your brain. We call this interconnected system the "bodymind".

4. Feedback for Survival: This network allows the brain to coordinate your behavior with your internal physiology. Pain serves as the system's most powerful feedback, teaching the brain to adjust future actions to ensure survival.

Does it surprise you to learn that the part of your brain used for "planning" is physically wired to your internal organs?.
